Eating right is key to wieghtloss.

If you go on VideoJug - Life Explained. On Film. and search : ab workout, pilates, etc. You will find plenty of videos you can follow and I assure you that you will see results if you do them.

    Goodluck on your wieghtloss!

If you are breastfeeding or had a c-section you will want to consider those two situations as well when starting postpartum exercise and weight loss. Both would require a little tweaking to your choices.

Agree with doula about talking to your provider about what's appropriate for you situation.

My partner liked pilates before my son was born, but after he was born, she jumped into it hard... and had better results than when she had tried to lose weight by pounding out the miles with cardio/running. Pilates can really help strengthen your core (abs, back, rear) and can be done in the home.

We own a few of the Stott Pilates dvd's. Its wicked stuff. You learn a move, work to perfect your breathing and muscle engagement, and then you can take that same move and increase its intensity. Again and again. http://store.stottpilates.com/Stott/...ategoryCode=31

The fear of God was put in me when my wife bought 2 lb soft neprene balls.

Sure... I might be more than willing to life a 35 lb kettlebell in each hand for a few sets... *guy grunting noises*... but those little balls are torture. Shell make you hold them out to the side for 30 minutes while in a v position.

*flashback to private school and the nuns making me hold two bibles out to the side, arms extended, for five minutes. Got to love catholic school detention*

Uhm... my point is its good stuff. Learn the basics of pilates and then a little more, and you have a workout for life... with a few tools and toys thrown in along the way.

While it may not be the strict calorie burner as aerobic exercises, you will breath heavy, you will boost your metabolism, and you will strengthen your core, all of which helps you lose that weight and get cranked in.

Also, people who keep food and exercise journals lose twice the weight as those who do not.

Working out in the early AM can boost your metabolism for hours, making your body burn calories for longer... and working out as soon as possible "checks it off the list"... no putting it off until later, when often later never comes.

Good sleep is hard to come by, but can play into weight loss issues.

And don't diet. You can change your eating patterns. Portions. But you need to fuel your body. You are an active parent and you are looking to exercise. Do focus on portion control, healthy choices, healthy snacks in between meals, etc.
