US Citizen, having a baby in Nicaragua. Will the baby be a US citizen?
I am a US citizen, in good standing. My other half and I are separating. I am planning on having the baby in Nicaragua. Will the baby be a US citizen? What do I need to do to make sure it is a US citizen?

Assume you are female, if yes... the baby will acquire US citizenship from you no matter where the birth place is. You must report birth of your baby to the nearest US embassy and obtain US passport for the baby. Read: Passports and Consular Reports of Birth - U.S. Embassy Managua, Nicaragua

    Congratulations!
