I live in Virginia. I am divorced with a 3yr old daughter and have recently remarried. My exhusband who pays child support is wanting to give up his parental rights and allow my new husband to adopt my daughter. What is the process for this in Virginia and how expensive is it?

I cannot speak to the costs in VA, but the cost in FL is about $600 plus lawyer fees (minimal if uncontested). Your local court should be able to tell you better. FL is high for court fees.

The process is fairly simple if the father consents. Your lawyer should be able to take you through it with minimal pain.
