We dated for about three years and now he wants space. We at one time had talked marriage. He says he loves me and says he has not be able to let me go but that he doesn't know what he wants as far a commitment What can I do to help him to either let me go OR work toward a permanent relationship?

Leave him alone. Give him what he asked for, plain and simple. Life doesn't just stop because he wants space, so enjoy yourself.

Leave him alone, he has his own issues to work out and sadly you can't do anything to resolve them for him.

When someone is asking for space, it is because they have personal issues to work out.

The best thing you can do is respect his wishes and give him space. You would want the same if the situation was reversed.

Once he clears his mind, he will come find you and you will be able to confront him with all your concerns.
