Well the first thing to consider is what kind of programming you want to do. There are many different languages for many different uses out there that programming doesn't help someone provide you with websites to look at if we don't know what kind of programming.

There's programming for the web (AJAX, JAVA, ETC... ), there's game programming (language can be dependent on platform), there's app programming (XML, C, C++, Visual Studio).

As you can see, since there are many different forms of programming, you should decide on what you want to do first then go towards the predominant language for that field.

Allright well what whuold you sugjest for someone just starting?

I would make the following suggestions.

1) Work on your writing skills. I am saying that to be a smarta$$. Regardless of the language you finally decide on, you must be able to read and verbalize the problem you need to resolve with your program.

2) Go to the library or a bookstore like Barnes and Noble or Borders and pick up some books on beginning programing, from there advance to specific languages. For example if your interests are piquéd by what you see on the web, purchase a book on Java for the web and go from there. As your understanding grows, you will seek more exacting information.

Personally, I suggest the books published by O'Riley. I've used them for years.
