Ok Captain Rich... I need your advice again. You answered my question about my check engine light going on/off in my 2005 Dodge Durango however tonight when I was driving to work it was raining very heavily and the roads were flooded. I didn't so much as make it out of the parking lot when my battery light came on and my truck stalled. It stalled again about 2 miles down the road and when I came to a stop at a stop sign it sounded like it was going to stall however it "re-started" itself. I made it to work however am very fearful of driving it in the morning when I get off work. HELP!

Usually when the battery light comes on it means that your alternator is not working properly. This would seem strange with such a new truck. It could have been just the nasty rainfall getting into some exposed wires. I'd say to take your car to an auto parts store (e.g. AutoZone) that performs a free battery and alternator check. However, since you're already stalling, I might consider taking the car to a mechanic. I went through this last month. The rebuilt alternator on my '02 Honda Civic with labor cost me $300 at a local mechanic. You may need to buy a new battery also if the faltering alternator damaged it. Good luck.

I had exactly that, suddenly driving and car just stopped. Unable to re-start. No indication of any problem.

When I disassembled the alternator, I had found the rotor connection had become de-bonded. No idiot light will find that. A dash mounted voltmeter that you were paying attention too would.

OK, so I had an issue with my battery light coming on and my truck stalling 3 x's on my way to work 3/31. I have a 2005 dodge durango. I went to my personal mechanic today and he said the computer was reading a u1120 code. My mechanic gave me a print out that explained what that particular code meant. Something about the computer wasn't communicating with other components which is what caused it to stall. My mechanic said he wasn't able to fix it and that it could only be fixed by dodge. I called dodge and they said they could find nothing wrong with my truck. They said maybe when my mechanic looked at the truck and did the reading he may have deleted any stored codes. My mechanic said if I don't get this fixed that my truck will stall again ( I just won't know where or when). How can dodge fix this if they can't even find the problem? I am about the rip my hair out!!

I had similar problem with my truck but with a abs brake light, the mechanic cancelled or deleted any stored codes, so no lights show up, but my ABs on my brakes can stop working anytimes without any notice. I've been told that the light will show up again after some time but when it shows up make shure you go and get it read from your dealer, or else they will cancell it again. Check out the code on the internet to find out wath part can cause the problem by entering your code number you will shurly find other people with the same problem. Some people say you need to "reflash" your computer only the dealer can do this, but maybe your truck is still under warranty?

This is wath a obdII code u1120 says on the net : U1120 SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Data for Primary Id

Not shure wath that means, th ebest thing is to contact the dealer and try and try dan try to get them to fix it even if they say they cannot see anything!

You will likely see a charge/battery light if you drove through enough water to make the accessory drive belt slip, or if the idle went so low that the system won't charge.
You don't state exactly how much water there was.
Is it possible that it was so high that a small amount got into the intake and perhaps the engine? That's scary! Let us know...

From all of her other problems, I'm starting to wonder if her PCM isn't going bad..

I just heard back from the Dodge dealership and they told me they didn't find a single thing wrong with my truck (even after speaking with my mechanic who looked at my truck first). The guy at Dodge said I needed to wait until this type of thing happens again and then take it directly to Dodgeso they can retrieve the code(s) needed to properly diagnos the problem. So, I am right back where I started from only about $300 poorer. Captain Rich it was pouring buckets of rain and yes I had to drive through the puddles. Your suggestion of water getting into my exhaust or whatever is right on. I assume SOME water got into the truck because the damn thing ran great until the rain came.
