Ceiling fan still no movement? Next?
Okay so I'm back with the fan again. I've replaced the capacitor(however u spell it) Radio shack did it. They also replaced the switches that reverse the fan action. I put it in a ceiling fan that works and it worked fine. I put in the one I was having problems with and it don't. It kind of gives a jerk in either direction depending on switch but doesn't turn. What do I do now. Also thanks for the advice on the other part. Please help me again. I'd appreciate any other ideas or suggestions.

Sounds like a bad direction switch. But I'm very surprised Radio Shack had capacitors they normally only have DC capacitors.

All right I have found the make and model on another fan identical to broken one. It's an S.M.C. model F52 (Listed Fan 701J) Does that help any? Again capacitor and switch have been replaced any other ideas?

I you have power to a known good fan, and direction and speed switch are wired correctly, That leaves a bad motor.
    Does it spin freely?

Could also be a loose or bad connection.

Are both fans the same model?

Did anything happen between it working and not working?

Both fans are the same. It quit after I took blades down to spring clean them.

When you took them down, did you put the screws back in the motor holes?

When you turn it on, and give it a spin by hand, does it keep going?
