    Evicting tenants with no lease
How do I evict a tenant who's residency is contingent on the work he performs on the premises (or doesn't perform)? No agreements were signed, I live in New York

    Hello F:

In the absence of an agreement, your tenant is considered a month to month tenant. If he doesn't pay rent, no matter WHAT form the rent is, you need to evict him per the landlord/tenant laws of NY.

In the future, I wouldn't combine the two agreements. I'd pay for work performed, and I'd expect a certain amount of rent. I would NOT link the two.
