We have a shower that leaks by when filling the tub.
1)I have replaced the diverter 3 times
2)Unscrewed the diverter and turned on the water
3) Tried a inline valve and also a shower head valve and they both leaked by
4) Replaced the mixing station behind the wall
None of these stopped the leaking shower head and we are putting our house for sale. Any suggestions? We are on a well with a water source unit. I think the psi is 58 ( the well guy set it)
When the water source kicks on the leak is less but still a lot. The only other improvement came after changing the mixing station, but this did not fix the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The valve was a Price Pfister. It was nothing fancy, but I thought adequate. Do you know what causes the leak by?

Looks real similar. It is a 2 hole kit with a pull diverter. The set did not come with the pull diverter. I got it at Lowe's for about 70.00

Does your spout look like this? (See image) Is it metal or chrome over plastic?
For 70 bucks it ought to be gold plated. Regards, Tom

I think it is chrome plated. It cost about 14.00 (universal diverter) is what they call it. The actual hot and cold valves (schematic you showed earlier is what cost 70.

The average house pressure is 45 PSI. you're a little high and the extra pressure might just be enough to push the water up the shower raiser and out the shower head even with the diverter open and set to fill the tub. I would try reducing the pressure at the pumps control box. Would you like me to show you how? Regards, Tom

Hi Brian,

First turn off the power at the breaker box, then pull the cover off the pressure switch,(see image) and you will see two spring loaded bolts secured with nylon nuts. One tall, one short. To decrease the cut in pressure, turn the nut on the tall bolt counterclockwise up. To decrease the cut out pressure, ( that's the one that will lower your pressure) turn the nut on the short bolt counterclockwise up. Good luck, Tom
