NYC Taxable Income for NJ 1040 Credit
    Hi,

I am full year resident to NJ and have NY as well as NJ income.

When computing tax credit on NJ 1040 form for NY taxes, which line from NY IT-203 form do I use to report income taxed by NY

Do I use line 31 (Column of New York) or line 36, which is use to calculate Base Tax of NY.

I user TaxAct and the support team confused me a lot and is not telling me to use Line 36 (which I know includes both NJ & NY income).

    Please help

You use the New York State Amount from line 31 of IT-203 to report the "income taxed by the other jurisdiction" on NJ's Schedule A, line 1.
