You obtain your license for the business from the city you work in, along with any applicable tax numbers you have to apply to your customers. Your go to your insurance company and ask them what you need in the way of liability insurance and depending on what you do, bonding isn't necessary unless you are going into homes to do your business.

    Hello f:

Hire a CPA. Not only will he set up your books right from the git go, he'll know whether you NEED to be licensed, and what kind you need if you do. He can also tell you what kind of insurance to get, and whether you'll need to get bonded.

You don't want to ask your insurance agent what you need, because he'll sell you whatever is best for HIS commission, rather than what's best for your business.
