My computor shuts down while I am using it. I turn off the surge protectors then turn then back on then it will work. What is wrong. I am using a hp pavilion v50 with windows xp.

Try without the surge protector.

Check all the power cable and remove all the power cables, and then plug in again properly.

Is the monitor just turning off or the PC itself?

If PC

It may be shutting down to the processor overheating.

-Check and make sure all your fans are working

The computer may be over heating or if you have a graphics card in whithout a sufichent power supply this could also happen
