    Dear sunil,

For rigid bus bars when laid open in air; normal / rated current density of the material is considered. Another one factor derates the bus bar selection is the skin effect. You must be aware that normally, currnt flows through outer most area / surface of a conductor and density at center is less due to cross magnetising effect.

Flexible copper conductors i.e. Cables have got derating factors: Ambeient temperature, grouping of cables, no. Of tiers of cable racks etc.

    Regards.
