We live in a sidesplit home. We want to remove some walls to make the main floor an open concept. How do we know what wall is the supporting wall? Any help I can get would be a big help.

If you have roof trusses then the bearings walls are usually form side to side on the shortest .
The best is get in the attic and look for the bottom 'Cord" of the truss system. thats the piece of lumber that goes from outside to out side wall.
A reg house with a centered pitched roof the bearing walls or the bottom of the 'A" is the load bearing point.
