Ask Me Help Desk - Sewage tank pump

I have a sewage tank downstairs in the basement,the pump works between every 2hours or less,and at the same time we are not using the water downstairs very often as we are using the water on the main floor,I am wondering if this is normal,or if there might be something wrong with the tank.Might the tank also be pumping water from under the house foundation?I am new to owning a sewage tank so I am not very familiar with how it works.Any kind of information about this may be helpful to my question.Thanks.

Sewage ejector ejects sewer while Sump pump ejects clean water, a.I. ground water, rain, etc. They are 2 completely separate systems. If your ground water drains into sewer pit than it is a gross Code violation.

Sewer ejector pump activates as soon as water inside pit reaches certain level. There is no preset time interval. If you think pump activates in intervals then there is a chance that you have leaking toilet or other fixture inside your house. Check it out...

Ok well here is what I found out so far,I opened up the sewage tank to check out for problems,I shut down the water in the house and it seems like the water is still coming from the inside of the tank pipes,I'm talking about the pipe connected from the house to the sewage tank,and I noticed that now that the weather is getting warmer and when it rains a lot,that's when the tank seems to pump out a lot more,I never noticed this in the colder weather,this is just recently with the weather change.Should the sewage tank pump out only the water being used inside the house or does it also pump out the water under the foundation like the sump pump?Thanks for your help.
