    Engaged while married
Can I be engaged while still married in the eyes of the court?

An engagement is not a legal document. But it's not a good idea.

    It won't mean anything.

Engaged while still married? I'm assuming you mean engaged to someone else while married to another person (you can marry the same person more than once, don't forget)?

Ah, yeah. You just cannot marry one person while married to another.

Its never a good idea. Also in many states there are laws governing the " ring " and what happens to it should the engagement break off. Best to wait.

Illegal, no. The Court doesn't care about engagements. The Court cares about marriages. If you are married and engaged your husband/wife can always raise the issue that you are legally married but have an outside relationship. Of course, that question can be raised WITHOUT an engagement.

    Smart? Only you know that.

    Agree with everyone else.
