I am a born US citizen.
My father is a US citizen. My mother is a UK Citizen (legal resident in USA).
UK Law says that because I was born to a UK mother in 1970 I have the right to UK citizenship.
I would like to claim UK citizenship without giving up my US citizenship?

QUESTIONS:
- Can I legally do this and how?
- Who should I speak to?
- If they law is vague on this issue, can I just do it with little fear of having issues provided I don't start using a UK passport to get in and out of the US?
- Are there any other issues I should be thinking about regarding this?

My grandmother lives in the UK and my mother may soon live there again and I would like to have UK citizenship in order to be able to advocate for them and take care of them should I need to with the full protection of UK law.
