Is it dangerous if a window AC unit is not properly ventilated?
A friend has had a small room built into her garage that is meant to cool flowers. Since the space is very small, instead of using a normal floral cooler, she is using an air conditioning unit to cool the space. She cut a hole into the wall of the cooler to fit the air conditioner.

My concern is that this is a window air conditioner, and instead of being ventilated outside, the back of it just runs into the main part of the garage. Is this dangerous? I was in the garage for only a few minutes and felt like I was getting a headache from the stuffy air. I'm worried about my friend's health.

    Thanks for your help.

That's not a good setup. For the simply reason that the A,C, unit filter can be dirty and along with the unit itself and discharging it into a closed space. The filter is the culprit here. The filter can contain Spores that can be harmful and could some very serious health problems and on rare occasions death.

ALWAYS use an approved filtered respirator when cleaning the filter on an A.C. unit

Either use another means to cool the room or discharge the A.C. to the exterior as its intended for proper usage. Can you use a window to out A.C. in and move the cool room?

Thanks for your response. This is in a garage, so there are no windows for anything to run through.
