I have been overweight most my life from teen on up. My metabolism also has always been a slow one.
Recently it was discovered that I have Diabetes and I had to start watching what I ate.
In all honesty that was the best thing that happened to me.
I eat No processed sugar I no longer drink sweetened sodas I do have an occasional Fresca.
I make sure to only eat 25 carbs a meal 3 meals a day. I also make sure to keep my protein up in each meal. I have two snacks a day of 15 carbs.
This diet has given me more energy and I have managed to loses 70 pounds in a year.
I do have to admit in the start I was not making sure to add protein and I was sluggish but once I made sure to add it I was really feeling like a totally new me.
    Maybe try this
I found that entering my things I ate each meal each day on my journal at a site called Sparkpeople really helped me be able to look back and I kept a journal of how I felt each day and what exercise I done even little stuff like a short walk I am disabled so I am really limited in my ability but have worked to try and strengthen my back and be able to walk longer and stand longer
For the first time since my beating I feel I have hope
    Good Luck

You must exercise to quicken your metabolism. Your metabolism is the most quick in the morning after you have woken up so your biggest meal should be in the morning. Now I'm not saying that you should pig out. Don't starve yourself though because your metabolism will get even lower. Try not to eat very unhealthy foods often. Especially fast food. Try replacing chips and cookies etc with yougurt and other healthy food. Vegetables and fruits are very important in making your metabolism quick. You can still eat the stuff you like. Just lower your intake of it. Good luck!

Drink a lot of water, exercise even just a little bit and stay away from processed foods. Anything that has over 5 grams of sugar and all things that have high fructose corn syrup.

HFCS is the real killer and it's in just about everything. But it's more concentrated than regular sugar and dehydrates you.

Building muscle will increase your metabolism. Maybe try a weightlifting program.
