How do you know if you need a new thermostat I just got a new furnish outside but I still have to run my heat onm emergency do Ineed a new thermostat

If the system will only work in EM heat then the first place to check would be the thermostat. I would be checking to see what is energized at the thermostat when on normal heat.

Do you have a heat pump?
