I changed my vanity top and the drain tail piece will no longer line up with the p trap entrance. The p trap exit pipe going into the wall is too far out so I can't rotate the p trap to make it the entry line up with the tail piece. I could cut the pipe that comes out from the wall and use a compression type coupling but I don't think code allows more then one slip fit between the trap and the wall. The code here (St. Louis) doesn't allow fernco flexible fittings either. The pipe is solvent welded to the pipe in the wall. What various options might I have? The p trap and wall line are both 1-1/2 inch. I might not have enough length on the p trap line going in the wall to cut out enough so could I solvent weld a 45 degree pvc to the abs? Are there other ways I could fix this?
