Do you mean 3-phase? Unless you have an oscilloscope to distinguish L1, L2, and L3, it's trial-and-error. If you connect the power supply and the compressor runs backwards, switch any two legs to correct. Fan operation won't be affected, so don't rely on its rotation to determine correct phasing.
