    Sueing for Slander
My landlady has accused me of doing drugs and smoking in my house, and given me an eviction notice. I have already gone to a lab and had a drug test done that is 100% clean.. I will present this to my hearing with the RTO. I would however like to file a suit for slander, as I have been accused of things which are not true. Can I do this, and can I do it myself without hiring a lawyer, and if so, how? I live in Vancouver Canada.

In the US, in order to sue for slander, you have to be able to prove damages. How do you quantify the damages you wish to sue for?

I agree that's its unlikely you can successfully sue because you don't appear to have suffered damages.

What you may be able to do is countersue for unlawful eviction since the reasons for the eviction are not true and you can sue for your expenses in disproving them.

But do you really want to continue to live in a place where you know the landlord wants you out?
