I just put up a new fan and light works fine but the fan hums and won't spin.. can you help?

Can you tell us a bit more about this installation?

Is it wired right?
Is there a wall control for the fan?

What make?

Check the reverse switch.

Do the blades turn freely by hand?

Are you using a wall switch?

If it is defective, return it.
