The receptacle that is hooked up is for a light switch with the brass screw tab connect
Missing and now power going to the bottom part of the receptacle. The power goes to the
Switch first then to the top part of the receptacle. Al plugs in the group work but are all showing the three lights on the tester are lit up with the centre yellow light a litlle brighter than the other yellow and a dull red light.

I am sure there is a question in here somewhere. What exactly are you asking and can you better tell us what you mean by "the brass screw tab connect
missing " Is this a single switch or a switch outlet combo? Also, you can go back and amend your post in the first 24 hours by clicking edit.

The brass tab is removed from the receptacle where the lamo will be plugged in

We are getting closer. Do you have a duplex outlet where one side is controlled by a switch and the other is not, hot 24/7?

Thanks ballengerb1 but it might be easier if I rephrase my question to ask the right way to run power to the switch then to the top part of a receptacle that will be used for a lamp and then from that receptacle to another receptacle so I can just see if it is wired correctly

Is the switch and the outlet already installed and wires are in the walls? Is this NT or conduit? Sorry to ask so many questions but its important for me to know if this is a rewire or a new line.

Yes the switch is already hooked up and behind gyprock with power coming to it then to the top part of the receptacle. I just bought the tester so ia am not sure how long the wiring has been hooked up like this and it is using 14/2 wiring. There is also a second source of power at the receptacle that was hooked to the bottom part of the receptacle that was used to contunue on to other plugs in the circuit.
