    Chemotherapy
Why do some people lose their hair when receiving chemo and some don't?

There are THOUSANDS of chemotherapy treatments available. Each one can be used for a different cancer, and also in combination. When I received my chemo I lost hair in patches from my scalp, and all body hair. I did not have to shave for 6 months. The chemo treatments I was given were mild forms of chemo, only 20% of the population lose their hair.

That said, it is the stronger the chemo, the more likely you will lose your hair. Also, genetics plays a role, but only a slight one.

So, to answer your question. It all depends on the chemotherapy agent used as to whether you will lose your hair.

Thank You J 9. Please keep her in your prayers. She is very nervous and bordering on terrified. I can't say that I blame her.
