Hi,im20yrs of age I just got married with my partner of 2yrs ,he's 21yrs.we've bbeen trying to have a child for 2yrs after 've used the contraceptive injection for 2yrs but nothing has happened,in 2007 I stayed the whole yr without going to my periods I went to see a doctor he told me to buy some pills I bought them & they helped me to get my periods back but still after that we've been trying but nothing has happened.I never fell pregnant before but he has a 4yrs old little girl.am I the 1 who has a problem,do I still stand a chance of getting pregnant,how bad is it?:( help we're really desperate for our first bundle of joy.

You need to see a fertility specialist. Your doctor should have referred you to one but if he/she didn't, you can seek one out on your own. I am not sure the cost of a fertility specialist, although I have heard they are costly. However, a fertility specialist could give you a good idea of what the problem and if or how to fix it.

Ask your doctor for a pre-conception appointment if you haven't had one already. He/she should address what (possible) issues you may have and if need be, refer you to a specialist.

The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler may help you as well. Also, don't assume that because your partner has a child that the "problem" is automatically yours. Men, as well as women, can experience "secondary infertility" and have trouble concieving even after they've already had one.
