Can I apply for ITIN for my kid at any time?
    Hi,

I filed tax returns first time in US.

I already submitted/filed my 2008 tax returns online without including my kid, who stayed with me more than 7 months in 2008. Some of my friends told that if I include my kid, I get some child tax credit. I gooled about the same and got little knowledge about this topic. I understand that to get child tax credit, kid needs to have ITIN.

Since I already filed the 2008 tax returns, can I apply ITIN for my kid with 1040EZ(Online version) returns form ? (before 2009 tax filing?)

Can I do amend the 2008 tax return before 2009 tax returns so that I can get child tax credit for 2008? Or please let me know the ways to get 2008 child tax credit and other child related benefits?

    Thanks
    Nn

If you want to claim your kid on 2008 tax return then file amended tax return Form 1040X. Attach W7 (ITIN application) with it.
