Water Meter Flow Indicator going crazy !
    Hi,

I had to shut off the water to our house for some repair in the bathroom and I shut off the water main valve on the house side by mistake. After the repair I turned it on and now I can hear water rushing through the pipe and the water meter flow indicator is going berserk. Please help.

Go back and check your repair job. It sounds like you've left a line open. Good luck, Tom

That indicator is a physical indicator driven by the water rushing through the indicator. Water has an exit somewhere past this point. Turn off all faucets, washers, etc. After all water usage is stopped, check the indicator again. Any flow activity indicates a leak. The most suspect area would be the bathroom. Shutting off the main water valve is not a mistake. It is good insurance in case of a mistake.

You have leak somewhere. Most likely, it is somewhere under ground, under floor (crawl space ) or one of your sprinkler anti-siphon valves is blown releasing water. Go to your sprinkler valves, put your ear on each valve, and listen for sound of running water.

Let us know what you've found out...

No problem! We're just glad it wasn't anything major. Regards. Tom
