I had a kohler shower diverter installed about two years ago. It's the kind that you have to pull the plunger on the tub spout to activate the shower head. Water is now dripping from my tub spout. After removing all the decorative trim from the diverter, what's left is a stem mounted with two screws. What's next? How do I proceed? Thank you --bob

Hey Bob,
Since diverter type spouts are so inexpensive you proceed directly to Home Depot or Lowe's and replace it. Good luck, Tom

I don't believe it's the spout. If the diverter is working correctly in the closed position there should be no water going to the spout

Now I'm confused. In your first post you described a diverter spout.

Please give me a description of your faucet. Is there a third knob or a plunger on the tub valve that you pull to divert the water to the shower? What's the brand name of the tub valve? Regards, tom

It's a kohler. The tub valve has one lever. It starts water flow to the tub spout and also regulates hot and cold.the same lever turns the water off. To get water to the shower head you need to pull the plunger located on the tub spout. The kohler part#is K-304_k. Thanks for your help- bob

I have checked out your tub valve and the only diverter you have is on the spout. You're going to have to determine which type that you have. A screw on or a slip on diverter spout. If the spout's made of metal then it's a screw on type. If it's made of chrome finish over plastic and it has a opening on the bottom next to the wall then it's a slip on spout.
Bottom line. Replace the spout and your troubles will be over. Regards, Tom
