Does diet work for American people?
Any week of the year, diet books top the bestseller list, and Americans consider themselves to be “health conscious”. So why is it that people are still getting fatter?

For many people diets are only a temporary remedy, once they go off whatever the diet is, they put the weight back on. Making lifestyle changes will provide lasting success. Why Americans, and now many people from other countries are following suit, have issues with weight is due to a number of factors.

Abundance of food, particularly the convenience of fast food take aways, types of foods eaten... again many convenience foods available, plenty of sedentary entertainment, need or desire for frequent driving, instant gratification mentality... not always wanting to put forth the effort if results aren't going to happen right away, work ethic... working long hours resulting in the need for quick, easy meals and less time to be active for many, etc..

Many of the things that have made the American way of life enjoyable and easier have also had some less than favorable results in regard to waistlines. Sort of a double edged sword situation.

Because they don't do what's in the books, and they eat bigger portions than they should. Most people, for instance, have no idea when they eat their cornflakes at breakfast that they probably have three portions in their bowl. Same with pasta, rice, bread and potatoes.

They also eat far too much processed and sugary food and not enough fresh whole food. Cherrios do not count as a portion of wholegrains.

There are many reasons Americans are fat
    1. education on health and fitness sucks in the school system, I didn't learn the right things about eating healthy until college and I took an advance class
    2. fast food is everywhere and they make a lot of food very cheap.
    3.people are LAZY
    4. parents have done a bad job of teaching their kids how to eat

The lack of stay at home mothers has contributed to a lack of preparation and enhanced the need/desire for convenience foods. People don't necessarily have to be considered lazy, to have too busy of schedules for well planned balanced meals and exercise.

Hey girl I have one for you! "I want a man/woman who makes me a priority not an option."
