We have an old workshop built completely from cinder blocks. The concrete foundation has shifted and so the back wall, which is 5o feet long, has started to separate from itself. There is a 'crack' starting from the top of one corner and continuing about half the wall traveling down to he ground. The crack is between bricks and has shifted out up to 4 inches. The other side of the wall is not much different. I know we need to replace the entire wall but don't know how to. It has a metal (tin) roof so the framing sits on the walls. And it doesn't matter what we repair the wall with ,cinder block or not we are just looking for the easiest and cheapest way to repair it.

Here is the bigger issue than repairing the wall, any foundation that shifted this much is considered a total failure. My thinking is the excavation and gravel base under the foundation were wrong from the start and this will continue to deteriorate. I can't picture any economical way of repairing this room, I'd take the entire structure down and build a new foundation.

I'm with bal1 here. Find and fix the problem as to why its shifting. Is there any gutters on the structure? What's the water runoff like there? How deep and wide are the footers there now?

What's the total size of the structure and height of the ceilings. Are there per built trusses for the roof?

Give some more details and see what the options here about saving the materials and tear it down or re do what's there and replace bad walls. How skilled are you in construction? This also makes a bid difference on fixing it and or tearing it all down.

All in all Its not a DYI job unless you have good skills.
