After a problem is corrected how do you reset (turn off) the Service Engine Soon Light on a 2001 Nissan Altima?
I have a 2002 Nissan Altma my service engine light has been on for about a day know. Can someone give me a few tips on what to do?
Your cars are OBD II compliant, you can buy a OBD II code reader for your car that
You can use to extract, read and erase codes and turn the SES light off. You can buy a basic reader at big auto retailers for $70-100. Or call Auto Zone or Checker Auto to see
If they will do it for you for free.

One of the most common reasons the engine light comes on, is due to a loose gas cap. Make sure the gas cap is secure then after a few days the light should turn off.
If you would like to reset the “Engine Light” (Service Engine Soon” Light) disconnect the car battery for more than 24 for hours. Why? The back up battery in the Engine Control Modulo last up to 24 hours only
If after disconnecting the battery the light is still on you should have a technician scan for trouble codes present in computer memory. Your vehicle is equipped with on board diagnostic capabilities. Check Engine light indicates when illuminated, malfunction has occurred in operating system. Technician with scan tool can retrieve stored malfunction code (s), this identifies system area requiring repair :)
That is true?? Because I got the same problem with the light on
