Why don't my gauges ina 1999 ford contour work

The question is too general. If anyone could answer this with the information you've given, I'd be very surprised.

Could be something like shot/loose wiring, we need a bit more info.
When did they stop?
What condition is the car in?
Are there any leaks/rust in the car?
Are they aftermarket gauges?

Agree with both answers above; much more information is needed.

Which gauges aren't working? Are the speedometer and tripometer working?
