I am replacing a 20-year old fan with a new Hunter fan. I used dual switch wiring (one switch controls the fan and the other switch controls the light) for the old fan and want to use the same for the new fan. There are three wires in the ceiling (white, black, and groudn). There are four wires in the fan (black, white, black/white, and ground).
When I removed the old fan I noticed that the ceiling white was connected to the fan black/white and the celing black was connected to the fan black and the ceiling ground was connected to the, I guess, fan white and I do not remember where the fan ground was connected. I guess my question is whether I connect the ceiling ground and the fan white and fan ground all together. Of course the new Hunter fan instructions assume that you have four wires coming from the ceiling which would have made this question unnecessary - :)
