As far as I know you just can't "convert" a gas furnace to an electric one. You will have to replace the entire unit with an electric one.
Yep
1st remove the gas furnace
2nd install a electric furnace
The make sures
Make sure before you start that your breaker/power box can handle the electric furnace/air handler
Make sure you get several 2 0r 3 different estimates
Make sure they know what they are doing
Make sure the installer does good work the install is very important

Consider replacing your air conditioner with a heat pump. This "hybrid" arrangement will give you the option of using the most cost-effective energy source.
As mentioned there is no such thing as conversion in this case, just replacement. If you're cool with that post your utility costs including taxes and I can reply with some operating cost comparisons.
