How do I find out who owns a piece of property that I am interested in.

Visit the tax commissioner's office. They list property by plat (like a map) and address. You should be able to get the owner's name and the appraised value for tax purposes.

Depends on the location. Some counties have on line searches. Sometimes you can just Google the address. Other areas, you need to check with the county clerk's office or tax commissioner's office.

Here it is called the recorder of deeds, and you can find out who owns it,and if there are any liens.

Also the tax office can tell you who is being billed for the taxes
( not always the owner) and if the taxes are up to date

    Hi, mrwally!

Around where I live, you could call the County Assessors office. That sort of information is also available online where I live.

    Thanks!
