My ex boyfriend owes me money, can I make a claim?
We lived together from February 2008 until December 2008. I took out a Loan and a Credit Card in my name (as his credit rating was poor) so we could buy furniture etc for our new home.

We both worked, but through our relationship it was always me who paid the rent, me who bought the food, he would do things like go and buy a new game for his playstation while I struggled to find where the next meal was coming from. Each month he promised to help me with our outgoings and each month, hardly anything. He only paid for his half of the rent apart from £10 here and there for a pizza every now and then.

He started to abuse me a lot and we moved back to his mothers before I got the strength to break up with him and move out.

I know the Loan and Credit Card are in my name, and I got most of the furniture despite only £2000 out of £4500 was on that. But am I eligible for some kind of legal support in my fight?

I'm only 19 years old working 25 hours a week on minimum wage and my outgoings are £300 a month to cover the debts and I can't afford to live.

He's changed his mobile phone and email address and refusing to make contact with me.

We have a bank account with both of our names on which is currently in arrears, the statements get delivered to his house addressed to the two of us and he still fails to pay off the £100 overdraft.

He works more hours than me, he gets paid more per hour than me, I'm paying off £4500 at £300 per month while he won't even pay off the £100 overdraft.

Please help me I'm seriously struggling and can't afford to live.

    Many thanks

Do you have any proof that you both agreed to pay half the furniture? That would be a good place to start, sue him for half of that 2000 pounds.

What was the other 2500 that was put on the credit card for? If you have receipts for all the home furnishings and you split all this stuff somewhat evenly you should try and sur him in civil court for half of there 4500 owed.

No I don't think I have anything in writing other than our Tennancy agreement. I probably have utility bills and things? Would that do? What could I apply for?

The credit card was used for food shoping etc. He kept telling me his hours we're going to go up at work so we'd have to use the card until then. But theynever did.

Im in exactly the same situation I paid for everything cz a loan out and phone in my name plus he bought my xmas pressies last christmas out of my catelogue and said he would pay me his half and never saw a penny.
Now 9 months later since breaking up I have asked for the money he owes which I have only asked for money owed since we broke up as loan and phone still going but I have to use the phone now so just want what he used and the money for catalogue all mounting to just under £1700 and I am now expecting a baby with my new fella in march but am in so much debt I can't even pay my bills and live let alone a baby.

I have texts from him talking about the money he owes and a made a spreadsheet showing what he owed and he keeps saying he will sort it and pay me on certain date but then an excuse comes along and he can't pay me.

He is going to france in couple month to work for season and I want it before he goes I think I have been patient enough and its causing problems me and my new boyfriend now

    Please help

My girlfriend split up from her ex a few months ago. She paid him her half of the bills and took her name off the bills. Her ex has recently rang saying she has to pay half to the bills again because he's rang up and put her name back on the bills. Where does she stand in this without having to pay again
