Bad reaction to Front Line Plus
Has anyone's dog had a bad reaction to Front Line Plus? Front Line Plus was applied to 3 of my dogs, it was applied by smearing the contents all across the dogs backs, not applied correctly in 1 spot by shoulder area. All three dogs ended up with 3rd degree chemical burns, all the hair and skin came off. This happened about 6 days after application. I am trying to find anyone else that may have had any bad reaction to Front Line Plus

What is Front Line Plus? Is it a heart worm medication?

I raise Bernese Mountain Dogs, and I did have a bad reaction incident about a 1 1/2 years ago with a couple of my dogs, and now again, I applied frontline plus and everyone of my dogs at this time have had a reaction to it from mild to severe- I did photograph many of my dogs and it is pretty disturbing to look at, it does in fact look like a burning with oozing puss. My vet says she has never seen anything like it and contacted frontlines lab and made a complaint, and asked for a case number on my behalf.

As asked before I have never heard of Front Line Plus. What is it used for? I treat my dog for heartworm and fleas. I used to use heartguard but had 3 dogs end up with seizures that never went away. I spoke to my vet about it and he said that there had been problems associated with heartguard with poodles and shelties.

I am not surprised to hear of a reaction. They can happen with almost anything. Frontline is a widely used product, and such reactions must rare. I can remember warnings about Revolution, but did not hesitate to use it on my dogs when my vet recommended it. The good news is that there are a number of other effective products. Let your vets help you choose a different product that doesn't have the same active ingredients.

    Could you post the pictures?

If someone could walk me through on how to post the pictures, I sure will.

    Thanks,

I just used frontline plus on my 11 yr old chow mix. He was fine before I applied it, playing with my younger dog. But the next day he woke up crying and confused. He walked hesitantly in slow circles with his head twisted to the side. Day after that, he's worse. Woke up many times during the night yelping, confused, like he wasn't sure where he was. He chewed a bald spot on his back. And this morning his eye is gunky and the skin on the bald spot is gunky. I went online and found other people had similar reactions. It can affect the nervous system.

My beloved Lhasa Apso, Buffy, died this summer from Frontline Plus. After contacting the EPA, I have learned that this company had 144,000 complaints in 2008 and 1,200 deaths. I am still heart-broken and can't believe it happened to my dog. I warn everyone about Frontline Plus. The vets are making a lot of $ off sick animals and the Merial Pharmaceutical Co. makes billions, so a few sick or dead animals are just collateral damage to these people. Do NOT use this product!!

My Lhasa Apso, Buffy, died this summer from Frontline Plus. She was like my daughter and I am still heart-broken. There have been 144,000 complaints and 1,200 reported deaths to the EPA over Frontline. It is a cruel product!! My dog was pampered and cared for like a little princess, but my vet started selling Frontline only for some unknown reason... probably a kick-back of some sort. Be glad that your dogs only had skin disorders... The ingredients DO get in the organs/blood... I have done hours and hours of research and it's not pretty!!

Google: "Truth About Pet Food.com", EPA has an update on the spot-on flea meds, Charlie Gibson did a Nightline episode regarding why America's pets are dying earlier and getting diseases earlier... about the spot-on flea treatments, "Pet World Academy"... "The Whole Dog Journal" lists the ingredients and their horrible side effects (Buffy had them all)... Play around with these sites... Hope this helps...

It breaks my heart to hear how these products have hurt so many lives :-( I have given my 15 week old blue nose american bully frontline and she got a rash and although it was only on her tummy and armpit I freaked out! I was told it's a common type of puppy rash. I only feed my dog greentripe; which is all natural raw dog food and want her to be as healthy as possible so I decided to stop using chemical treatments. I am researching garlic used in small amounts in food but am not sure its pretty 2 sided when researching the subject?

Frontline Plus killed my beloved lhasa apso this summer. 144,000 complaints in 2008 tells a serious tale of misrepresentation. I continue to grieve my dog and I hear horror stories about this product all the time. Do not use this product. I used Advantage by the Bayer Co. and had no adverse effects, but my vet only sold Frontline lately... wonder why... probably a bigger kick-back. EPA just came out with this news: Frontline Plus is the top 2 most toxic spot-on flea treatment.

This is so sad. This weekend my cousin applied Frontline Plus to her healthy , happy 3 year old Bishon. His name is Dino Martin and was the love of her life. That night, he started acting very lethargic, he died in the middle of the night. What can be done about this company? 1,200 deaths is insane.
