    Default Judement
I Just found out that my accounts was frozen today because there was a default judgement against me in January. I called them, they told me that it was because of a surgery I had when I was 19 years and student under my Dad's insurance. I know my Dad was going through this mess with them because I was covered at that time under him. Now they told me that they tried to contact me and sent mail to an old address but did not hear from me. This is really news for me... First I thought my dad was the person they were dealing with because it was his insurance company. My question is, what can I do at this moment because I was unaware of what was going on and did not receive any notice from them. Also I was covered under the insurance at the time. Please let me know as soon as you can because I'm about ready to pass out because all the money I saved for my wedding this year has been frozen. Thank you...

You go back to the Court that issued the Judgment and request that the case be reopened for, among other reasons, bad service, suing the wrong person (you). Sometimes you need to Petition to reopen. Other times it's just a form to fill out.

When the case is reopened, then you take your proof to Court and attempt to straighten this out with the insurance company and creditor.

In the meantime, I'd be having a heart attack, too! And these things take time - so get moving.
