    Remodeling basement
I planning to finish off my basement with metal studs. I have 12 inch thick block walls.
I would like to know if I can build the metal stud framing about 1 inch away from the wall and a redwood soleplate(for trim purposes) then put rigid foam board on the on the studs right underneath the drywall for insulation and to prevent striping on the drywall.
I want to omit putting anything on the block to prevent condensation.
My basement is dry and I do have a return vent for cirulation.
    Any suggestions would be great.
My other option is to put the sheetrock right on the metal studs and omit the rigid board is possible, if striping isn't a concern.

I am not sure what you mean by striping, can you explain further. I would glue the rigid foam boards directly on the wall and then build your framing just in front with a pressure treated floor plate, not redwood. Tape all foam board seams and caulk along the floor and in the corners, there will be no condensation.

Ballengerb1, the striping is when the cold of the metal studs transfers to the sheetrock and leaves strips going down the sheetrock.I was going to use redwood because the chemicals in the pressure treated wood is caustic to the metal and eats it up so I was reading on the internet.

Bal 1 without a doubt has given perfect advice here. Follow his advice and no stripping should occur.

Robertheard use a sill plate insulation for no direct contact from sill plate to the steel studs.
