    Leach field
I have an issue with my leach field. At the very end of the leach field I have water coming to the surface in an area the is about 3' round. My leach field is 14-15 years old and was made with the plastic half barrels that Boulder County Colorado approved for a few years. I do not have much room to expand and I have no area to completely build a new field. I live in western Boulder county in Colorado where the soil is mostly rocks. Any suggestions on how to fix in a cost effective manner. I would like to do as much myself to cut down on the costs.

    Thank you

That puts you between a rock and a hard place because if liquid's coming out of the very end of the branch it tells you that the soil's so loaded up that it can no longer percolate the liquid back into the ground. Would this be just the one branch, (you do have more then one don't you?) or do you see water other places? Perhaps it's just the one branch and the rest are OK. I wouls start to check the septic tank level and if it remains constant part of the drain field's working OK. However if the level began to raise then the drain field will have to be moved.
Sorry I couldn't give you any better news but I suspect you already knew that. Good luck, tom

Tom said it: soil is refusing to accept water. Have you tank pumped out. By the time it fills up again, ground will be dry and will be able to accept more liquids...

Did you add to your house ? Did more adults now live in your house than before ?

Septic tanks are usually sized according to the size of the house.
