    NC resident law
What is the NC law about being a part time resident? Is there a certain amount of time you have to spend in NC before being considered a permanent resident? We are only part time but they say 30 days is the maximum time before you have to get a drivers license and tag. Where can I find the information?

    Hello f:

I have the feeling that state law has not caught up with your lifestyle...

Most state drivers license laws don't take into consideration that a resident MIGHT live in another state for HALF the year...

Your state bureaucrats or cops aren't going to care about that much. They're just going to give you a ticket and proceed with all due speed to the nearest doughnut shop.

Of course, I wouldn't be getting a new drivers license every six months - that's NUTS. So, I'd either drive real carefully, or try to find some sympathetic judge...

    Good luck with that.
