    Thermostat hooking it up?
I just bought a rv travel trailer and was told that it needed a thermostat... so I went and bought a new thermostat and have no clue how to hook it up. So I need help out of the wall of the trailer there are 5 wires one green, one blue, one red, one white and one yellow but have no clue of where I should hook these wires tried to find out in the book that came with the thermostat but still clueless... was told if I touch the red and white together it will come on but nothing so then I touched the red and blue and I heard a clicking and then touched the white and blue and angain heard a clicking but nothing when touched other wires together. Does any one know how to hook this up? To help me thanks...

Could you further explain how the heater runs on either gas or electric, By gas should we assume LP? Any chance you can post a picture of the unit or give us the data from the interior panel?

Yes by gas I mean lp... as for the pic of the panel it is very faded and hard to read so the pic will not help as it is basically black and non readable

OK but tell us more about the electric heat capability, is it coming from the same actual heating unit/furnace or is there some sort of backup heater? Did the previous owner demonstrate it for you?

I took some pic of the unit but don't know how to insert them on this site but if you email me I could email the pics back to you my email is [email protected] as I took the pics I seen this is a lp unit and I assume the blower is the electric part and runs of lp

The campers/RV `s I used to work on need a special 12 volt tstat, but pretty much hooked up like a home tstat,, the tstat wire went to the furnace to a strip type control center that was labeled/marked as to what each color of wire was used for.
Go back to the furnace ,find the tstat wires where they connect to the furnace and find out what each color is used for ,then follow the instructions that come with the tstat. Did you buy the tstat from a RV/camper dealer?
