Will my parents find out about my confidential marriage?
I married my boyfriend in the US for immigration purposes. We intended to marry in the future, but looked at this is basically signing paperwork to help keep him in the country. It is a confidential marriage. I do not want my parents to find out (I am over 18) yet. He overstayed on his visa, but will he be able to get his green card here? Would somebody notify them because their name is on the license? Is there another way that they could find out? Please Help.

Marriages are official records and are public. However, if no one looks for it, it's unlikely to be discovered.

Why is their name on the license? Did you have to list your parents? If that's the only reason, then they probably won't find out.

As to the green card, that's a matter beyond my specialty. Here's a web site:

If he overstayed his visa in general he should leave and come back in but there is a link on the page below to apply while inside the US.

As for finding out about the marriage that is something I am not sure of but doubt they will be notified by anyone.

Also please go to the link below, USCIS is the US governement's immigration service. The link provided above by Perito is for an immigration lawyer who seems to want $50 for the forms that you can download for free from the website below.
