Do you think I have a good chance at trail?
I bought a transmission from a guy off the strrets and had a mechanic install it in my girlfriends car. A few months later cops had a warrant to arrest me for grand theft 3rd degree. It turned out the transmission was stolen from a rental car. The person that I bought the transmission from sent the cops to my girlfriends house and they confiscated the transmission back. But the car was not in my name. Neither was the rental car. I refuse to take a conviction for something I didn't do. The only witness is the guy I got the transmission from. What should I do?

So the other guy and your girlfiend testifies that you 1. you bought the transmission and 2. you gave it to the girlfriend.

So if you did not "buy" it, your girlfriend did, so do you prefer for her to take the fall.

So be the real man and let girlfriend go to jail for receiving it.

You bought a transmission from a guy on the street and didn't have a clue that's a strange thing to do?

You retain an Attorney, that's what you do.

Or, as FrChuck said, you throw your girlfriend under a bus.
