I have a very old inground spa. The faceplate around the skimmer was leaking quite badly, some due to settling of the tub itself, and some due to a dried-out gasket and cracked face plate. I purchased a replacement face plate and gasket, and my local pool shop told me to use lube on the gasket. I installed the new face plate with the gasket quite well lubed, and used silicone in the gap between the tub and frame. The silicone has worked, but the lubed gasket is leaking even worse than the original, rotted gasket! What is the solution? Should I purchase another gasket and use silicone (which was my first inclination?) Should I double the gaskets? (The original only had 1 gasket, so that is what I used as a replacement.)
Thanks for any help -
