    Legal age in relationships
In the state of Victoria, Australia, is it illegal for a 17 year old to date a 13 year old if there is no sex involved?

If no sex is involved you can't be charged with statutory rape. BUT why would you want to date a 13 year old if you are 17? That's quite a maturity gap.

Yes, but if her parents are against it you can be charged with custodial interference (according to what I have researched).

As "ChiMomma" said - as long as no sex is involved dating is not against the law.

Similar questions have been asked many times in these forums. I know of no place that legislates dating ages. Criminal statutes come into play only when sexual activity exists.

But I must agree that a 17 yr old and a 13 yr old don't make a lot of sense. That 4 yr gap is vast at that age. Frankly, a 13 yr old shouldn't even be dating.

There can be legal issues if the parents of the 13 year old is against it, And again at 17 how many years do you plan on dating without sex,
Come on, we all know what happens in a few months
