    Please suggest me a free multimedia player which can play .avi format files on windows98 os.

    Windows Media Player should be able to handle .avi files. Your problem maybe the CODEC. Download the codec that you're missing (from Microsoft or DIVX).

    I have already tried VLC player but it doesn't work on win98se
