Married but reside in separate states
We married last spring but will continue to live separately for two more years, until he retires.
We are planning to file jointly but he lives in Louisiana, I in Florida. If we file jointly, will my income, earned in Florida, have to be taxed in Louisiana? Is there a process/forms in place we should use? We both own homes in each state and have homestead exemptions respectively.

    Thank you,

On your joint Louisiana return, you will report all of your income, and your joint income level will be used to determine your tax rate, but you will pay taxes ONLY on the income earned within Louisiana.
